Damn that Damn Scanner!

Alrighty, so about 2 or 3pm after I got back from the library with Areya and her mother, I had a book that I really wanted to transcribe into my computer. I launched Word and then started to type. After about 2 or 3 sentences, Areya came by and suggested that I should just use her scanner. We discussed it and it seemed like a much better idea as I could scan the entire book with all the text in it's original formatting and with all original pictures. This was a considerable improvement than just typing it up into Word.
The operation was slapstick at the beginning, as I was trying to use the Canon software on Areya's PC to try to scan. And of course, it was fucked up so I couldn't even get past the dialog to perform the scan. After a few attempts, it was clear that we should attempt to do this on my MacBook Pro. So, after searching Canon's website, downloading the drivers and installing them on my Mac, getting ready to scan the fucking book.
The operation did not go well. I was able to get past the dialog but around page 30, the reader in the scanner was stuck and that screwed up the software, so I lost all my work. It turns out that I had accidentally hit the lock button on the bottom of the scanner, which locked the reader in place. This is supposedly helpful for moving, but it seriously pissed me off to no end.
So, anyways, 30 pages are lost and so is the time spent scanning them. Fine. I start the utility up again and move on. I am Jessica, it's what I do. So, I start up again and for 5 hours, it goes fairly well. No errors, a bit of issues but nothing I couldn't handle. Finally, I scan the 190th page and I am happy that it's finally over. So, I click Finish and instead of generating the PDF file like it was supposed to, the damn program froze! WTF?!?
So, tomorrow morning, I am doing what I should have done and doing this with the proper tools. Namely, Adobe Acrobat.

Blogging for money?

Sometimes, I even wonder the motivations for my blogging. And why did I try to push myself to put out a daily post on my WordPress blog, Buddhasm (which is now temporarily closed). Well, if you want the most honest reason, it's because I wanted someplace to bitch about everyday life. Oh and I wanted to build another cash blog.
Let me explain. I am a user of a certain secret Text-Link-Ads programme which I cannot say (due to their own restrictions, sorry!). I have a blog which I no longer maintain. However, I get about $100 or so from that blog every month. This is somewhat helpful in either paying for minor expenses or just getting something that I really want. I thought that it would be a good idea to try to set up another blog that I could monetize through the same programme.
Alas, I have failed for the time being.
However, I do plan to do something with the domain name. In fact, one thing that many people know about me is that I am notorious for buying domain names and just letting them sit to waste. And I DO have plans for that domain name. So, soon it will join my other domain names in my virtual network.
As for blogging, what am I to do? I don't want it to seem that I am just doing this for monetary gain. And yet, isn't that exactly what I was doing? Well, I have found a way to resolve this conflict. I have decided to temporarily blog here on LiveJournal. The feed from LiveJournal will be incorporated into the JessicaSideways.com website.
So watch for that. ^_^

Making a blogging decision

(This post is going to be posted on my both my LiveJournal blog and my WordPress blog, Buddhasm so that everyone can read this post).
As a web designer, I am working on trying to decide whether or not I want to use LiveJournal for my blogging or my WordPress blog. I love my WordPress and I love the complete control I have with my own web space. However, it would also be cool to have a place to post minor posts or posts with no intellectual content what-so-ever. Point blank, I wanna know whether it's worth it to have a WordPress blog and a Paid LiveJournal account.
A few of my friends are on LiveJournal such as
soylentmean and
evilfuzzymonste. I do think that it would be cool to have the LiveJournal for social reasons and for something to have my friends see. It would also be useful for less useful articles to be posted. Like for an example, I want to post minor posts about my life. But I want to write long articles that are pretty useful. And I want this to be Buddhasm as I would be able to monetize it in the long run like I am doing with my old blog that I no longer post at.
Plus, I take my writing seriously, as I would eventually love to pursue a career in writing. And I would love to have my professional writing available on a more customizable personal website. I don't know. However, I have dropped off of writing on either of the blogs because of my living situation and other life events. I am working on a couple of articles that will be posted on Buddhasm, as well as some that will be posted here. And of course, I plan to give equal attention to both blogs on my upcoming personal website, JessicaSideways.com.

On hormones today!

I went to see Dr. Hammill in order to start hormones today. And when I got off the Streetcar Named Disaster, I was quite scared. I was put on 2mg Estradiol per day and 100mg Spironolactone. Is this pretty common?

Mac OS X Leopard supports Tibetan

At first, I didn't think that the new Mac OS X update was worth paying the $129 USD. Little did I know that I would soon be proven wrong as I learned that Mac OS X Leopard now includes Tibetan. This is useful for any students or scholars that need to type in Tibetan. གཞན་
